Should she have aired their dirty laundry?

Have you heard about the Barstool Sports blogger -- Kevin Clancy, or "KFC" -- who recently admitted to cheating on his then-pregnant wife? His admission came, though, after his wife, Caitlin, penned a public post detailing how she put their two children (2yrs and 6mo) to bed, and then caught KFC sending messages to his mistress. She learned he had been at a Manhattan hotel with her while Caitlin was days shy of giving birth to their second child.

Kevin dropped that mistress “like a hot potato” and moved onto another one, his wife claimed.
“I never asked for my life and family to be so public, but since I know this is going to come out anyway, I wanted to set the truth straight before the public humiliation begins,” Caitlin added.

Of course, this couldn't have been easy for her to write — but, once you put something on the Internet — it sticks. They have two kids...will they ever see it? As the wife of a blogger who makes his living off of social media...she had to have known this, somewhat instinctively. Sure, she got to throw the first stone and humiliate him before the mistress(es) could publicly embarrass them both, but now she's tossed the ball into KFC's...chicken coop.

The more I think about it, I think she would have had more power if she kept it private and held going public over his head until she got everything she wanted...whether it's the house, car, a quick divorce — whatever. A man like him values his own ego and career more than anything else...

...which ALSO makes me wonder if his isn’t simply a strategic career move/publicity stunt.

Because, if its true — she will look like a woman who weakened if they stay together. If they choose to proceed with divorce, she's succeeded in pissing him off and given his lawyer enough ammo to fight back with. Now, I know nothing personally of this topic, but I've seen enough Lifetime movies and soap operas to know how it goes down.

And anyway — doesn’t any of this seem like it could be a publicity stunt? I mean, I know I didn’t know who this guy was until hearing about this story. And, a truly pissed-off woman would have also dragged the mistress(es) names and faces through the mud. But, she didn’t. Hmmm...

I’ll bet you a $15 cocktail that they will “work it out” and ask for “privacy regarding this matter” and his career will soar. That would certainly cushion some of the blows to their dignity.

I guess we’ll have to grab a (bar)stool and wait.
