Hello, fall!
So, I'm not the first person to tell you that today is the first day of autumn. Chances are, someone on Facebook or Twitter clued you in, already. Or - maybe you saw today's Google Doodle.
But, still. Hooray for fall!
It's 11 a.m. here in Orange County - and it's 73 degrees. The high for today is a sunny 82. There are no leaves changing colors, no real chilly days, and so far, no one around here goes crazy for scarves, boots or anything pumpkin flavored.
It's really weird.
Fall is my favorite time of year. Growing up in the Northeast - driving to Vermont to peep leaves, eating cider donuts, drinking apple cider and going apple picking while wearing a new sweater, scarf and riding boots is like the epitome of fall.
Can't do those things here. I'm in chinos, a tank top, flip flops, stopping for an iced pumpkin spice latte and hitting the beach on the weekend. And, look - it's not a bad trade, believe me. It's just different. I can't wait to see what December feels like.
I hear Santa wears shorts and goes surfing on Christmas.
Stay tuned.
