Good vibes only

I’m not being idealistic when I say I know we will get through this Coronavirus thing. I have no doubt that we can all do it together…with kindness, positivity and strength. I think we all have to be there for each other — listen, be aware of what we’re saying and who we’re saying it to, protect the health of ourselves and those around us, and soften the tone of our voices in awkward times like being at a grocery store or waiting in a long line. We’re all in this together, and we’re lucky to not be alone.

I live with/manage anxiety. It’s something I not only recognized I was experiencing, but also something my doctor diagnosed me with. So, as someone who has had several panic attacks without warning, cold, tingly hands and feet, heart palpitations and tight as hell shoulder/neck muscles, amongst other symptoms — I have to tell you, that what you’re feeling right now with this Coronavirus crisis…I get it.

And, I love ya — but, you’re kind of preaching to the choir, so please take your glass half-empty talk elsewhere.

I absolutely cannot deal with people who walk around with black clouds over their heads and who seek sympathy for even hypothetical situations. It’s not that I don’t have empathy — I have too much sometimes — it’s just that I don’t want to use my energy to try and stop someone from pulling me into whatever hole they’ve dug, because they will inevitably hop out of it using my shoulders, leaving me down there to freak out…alone.

So, no. I prefer good vibes only. Of course, being realistic is most important because ignorance is only bliss for the ignorant. But, I like when folks can be realistic with a positive, hopeful, even humorous spin. Law of Attraction and all.

I have recently walked away from many conversations that were clearly traveling on a one-way ticket to the Rabbit Hole of Doom. And, I don’t feel bad about it. It’s self-preservation, and right now, we all have to practice it, because some people have an uncanny way of instilling fear and panic into folks. You can almost always see/hear/feel them smirking as you start to wonder if what they’re saying is true. I guess some people just thrive on being sadists. Sweet life. Dismiss them, I say.

Let’s all remember that this too, shall pass. If we keep our spirits, and the spirits of those around us, up…we will come out of it better and stronger than ever. Together.

(Also, wash your hands, stay away from even small gatherings and keep your house clean. *hug*)
